Junior Engineer

Foster Clark Products Ltd in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Junior Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role:
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer, the Junior Engineer will focus on enhancing service quality and equipment reliability through workflow improvements and optimizing maintenance processes. Using Continuous Improvement tools and practices the Junior Engineer will actively engage in minimizing downtime and failure rates to maximize equipment productivity. The Junior Engineer is a developmental role whereby the candidate will be offered the opportunity to develop and expand the individual’s skill set and expertise into different engineering streams within the business. The junior engineer will have a moderate organizational impact that affects one department.

Key Accountabilities:
Equipment Efficiency

• Execute and participate in the Yearly / Quarterly / Monthly / Weekly / Daily Preventive Maintenance plans
• Gain Equipment knowledge by carrying out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment faults, whilst dealing with emergencies, unplanned problems, and critical repairs
• Learn how to resolve process problems through individual and team-based continuous improvement activities and structured problem-solving methods
• Complying with and reinforcing safety, security, and environmental policies
• Be an active participant in the project development process
• Implementing and commissioning new production equipment and processes, monitoring modifications, upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes
• Actively participate in monitoring programs for data collection, critical equipment analysis, and condition-monitoring techniques
• Actively participate in continuous improvement projects based on data analysis
• Ensure accurate and timely upkeep of all relevant documentation
• Demonstrate an aptitude for meeting commitments of project scope, time, and budget.

Leadership and People Development

• Develop leadership skills to coach and guide a team of technical staff
• Develop leadership through the implementation of focused improvement activities to improve KPIs
• Monitor and report overall plant performance and KPIs system for production and quality standards
• Participate in the planning and provision of technical training to operators.

Quality

• Familiarisation with GMP standards and ensuring all safety standards are met
• Participation in the checks and calibration of instruments to make sure they are accurate whilst promoting standardization of equipment
• Familiarisation with GMP, ISO Standards, Safe Food Handling, HACCP practices, and HSE guidelines.

• Variation in work sequence and routine.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
Education

• University degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

• Have at least one summer working/apprenticeship experience in an FMCG environment
• Self-leading experience with subordinate to procedural skills.

Technical Skills

• Demonstrated initiative and a proactive attitude
• Proficient with MS Office and engineering design software (AUTOCAD or similar)
• Ability to show a track record of improving production, solving problems, and motivating technical teams
• Organization of workflow in the best sequence
• A variable thinking capability to handle different situations that require the identification and selection of solutions within the area of expertise as well as acquired knowledge.
