Head of Maintenance

AX Hotels in Malta is looking to recruit a Head of Maintenance to lead and oversee all maintenance activities at the property and the respective team on a full-time basis. The selected candidate should possess excellent leadership and communication skills, assertiveness, the ability to handle pressure, and a result-driven personality.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure a safe, well-maintained hotel where everything functions as it should and where all maintenance and power costs are within budgeted controls.
• Ensure efficient preventative maintenance procedures at all times and a quick reaction to maintenance requirements from guests and staff.
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring and ensure the maintenance team's commitment to achieving this.
• Maintain and enforce the hotel's protection and energy-saving policies.
• Ensure a continual flow of water and power at the most economical level and monitors consumption levels compared to budgets and recommend methods for effecting savings.
• Ensure that technical drawings, certificates, and records are current and properly filed.
• Lead by example, stressing attention to detail, a high standard of finish, attentive and personal service to guests, sales awareness, and personal initiative.
• Cooperate and coordinate with all other departments especially housekeeping, front of the house, and food and beverage.
• Ensure that all maintenance requirements are treated promptly and to the correct standards.
• Ensure that the building plant and equipment are maintained to their full life expectancy.
• Establish service quality standards, for the department, which accurately reflect the day-to-day work situations.
• Guide the maintenance staff into a highly skilled and flexible team in which each individual member is well-trained, properly managed, and highly motivated.
• Ensure total safety at the place of work where all maintenance concerned matters, particularly during repairs, and after modifications are carried out.
• Be aware and involved in the fire evacuation and security procedures, and ensure that firefighting and any other emergency equipment is periodically checked and maintained in good working order.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years of  experience working in a similar environment
• Very well-organized and analytical
• High Technical Diploma level of education or an equivalent
• Wireman’s license A&B
• Able to work flexible hours and on own initiative
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Fluency in the English language
• A hands-on approach is required.

AX Hotels Business:
AX started in 1975 in construction. The company was awarded a couple of landmark building and civil engineering contracts and by the mid-eighties, it was already a well-established construction company with Malta’s largest hard rock quarry, the largest pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete plant on the island. Development was a natural diversification for the company.
