3D Laser Scanning Engineer

EM&I (Group) in Malta is looking to recruit a 3D Laser Scanning Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role: 
This new role involves developing our digital service offerings using innovative and remotely operated optical and advanced laser data collection methods, applied across the oil and gas and renewable energy industries. 

The 3D Laser Scanning Engineer will provide proficient technical capability and support in the fields of:

• Laser scanning, data acquisition, data analysis, 3D modeling, and transfer into Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models
• Digital optical data analysis and image recognition using machine learning and enhancement
• Data analysis, storage, and transmission

Academic Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in an engineering discipline is preferred, although candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree who have the required industry experience and competence are also invited to apply.

Technical Skills and Experience:

• Demonstrable experience with laser scanning hardware and software  (specifically FARO laser scanners and Faro SCENE and BuildIT software)
• Expert level experience in transferring data and creating 3D models in CAD and/or FEA model packages
• Ability to use 2D and 3D CAD modeling (experience with applications such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, SOLIDWORKS, AND Navisworks)
• Expert level experience and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Experience with data management and cloud-based transfer from remote locations
• Strong technical report writing skills
• Previous experience of training and coaching site-based technicians and office-based engineers in data collection and analysis
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as a team member or individually with a key focus on achieving project deadlines
• Ability to travel internationally and flexibility in working hours and locations
• Experience using Google Cloud Platform applications including Compute Engine Cloud Storage and BigQuery or other similar cloud-based applications

• Previous experience of training and coaching site-based technicians and office-based engineers in data collection and analysis
• Experience with FARO Scanner and Faro Scene and BuildIt
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as a team member or individually with a key focus on achieving project deadlines
• Ability to travel internationally and flexibility in working hours and locations
