Developer - Business Intelligence

The Business Intelligence & Data Mining team at MeDirect forms part of the Digital Channels & Customer Experience department. The team is focused on enabling the bank to enhance customer experience and make the right business decisions through the provision of timely and actionable insight as well as supporting the bank to fulfil its regulatory and compliance reporting requirements.

The BI Developer role will form part of the team and work under the direct supervision of the Deputy Head to develop engaging and visually appealing BI reports and dashboards as per the defined business needs and requirements. The BI Developer will utilise the technology stack supporting the BI & Data Mining function including QlikSense, NPrinting and MicroStrategy.

The role requires a self-driven and motivated individual with experience in a similar BI role who would like to cement their learning and expand their technical capabilities.

Duties and responsibilities

• Working as part of the BI & Data Mining team to build engaging and visually appealing BI reports and dashboards 
• Performing data analysis and creating performant documents where required. 
• Writing and testing good-quality scripts and queries
• Liaising with the deputy head and / or senior members of the team to interact with business stakeholders for requirement definition 
• Collaborating with the Data Engineering team to raise warehousing requests or highlight data quality issues
• Ramping up knowledge on the BI tools and solutions utilised within the team including QlikSense, MicroStrategy and NPrinting

Required knowledge, skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in an IT/Finance-related subject or 3+ years of relevant experience
• Good analytical skills and SQL knowledge
• Good grasp of data architecture, data warehouse and BI platforms
• Experience in the use of collaborative tools (GitLab, Jira, Confluence)
• Self-driven and proactive approach towards given tasks and learning
• Experience with QlikSense, QlikView and NPrinting is highly desirable
• Previous experience in a financial institution is highly regarded
