Duties
Basic Function of Position:
The incumbent performs all duties pertaining to nonimmigrant visa (NIV) processing, consular cashiering, fraud prevention, as well as consular administrative functions and outreach. Incumbent collects NIV and American Citizen Services (ACS) fees; screens and organizes incoming documents for the NIV appointments; prints and performs quality checks, and delivers NIVs to applicants; responds to telephone and email inquiries; and performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. On occasion, complicated cases may take considerable time to resolve and require the incumbent to analyze and research a relatively complicated set of laws and procedures U.S. law, consular regulations (9 FAM and 7 FAM) and Consular Affairs standard operating procedures prepare the case so that the Consular Officer can make decisions and ensure that the application has been met. Incumbent liaises with U.S. and Maltese counterparts to fulfil Mission objectives of facilitating legitimate travel to the United States and safeguarding U.S. citizen’s rights
