Role Overview
Our Client is seeking a Senior VAT Accountant to join its team, offering an opportunity to work with a varied international client base. The role is ideal for a proactive professional aiming to deepen their expertise in VAT and indirect taxation while contributing to a collaborative and dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Oversight: Collaborate with management on VAT-related matters, providing input on technical queries and refining internal processes.
• Team Supervision: Manage and guide junior team members in the preparation and submission of VAT compliance work across a diverse client portfolio.
• Complex VAT Matters: Advise on intricate VAT issues including cross-border transactions, sector-specific treatments, and updates in legislation.
• Compliance Review: Examine VAT returns, recapitulative statements, and related filings to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Client Support: Assist clients with VAT registrations, deregistrations, ongoing obligations, and liaise with tax authorities on audits, queries, or investigations.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Education: Fully qualified accountant.
• Experience: Minimum of two years of focused experience in VAT or indirect taxation.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English; proficiency in Maltese is advantageous.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, able to explain complex VAT concepts clearly.
• Interpersonal Skills: Effective at building relationships with clients and team members, with the ability to provide guidance and mentorship.
• Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of Maltese and EU VAT legislation; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple client engagements.
• Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative and the drive to deliver high-quality outcomes independently.
• Problem-Solving: Capable of analysing complex scenarios and providing practical, compliant solutions.
