Senior Accountant

Michael Debono Ltd (MDL) in Malta is currently seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant to join the Finance team, on a full-time basis.

The product offering is composed of passenger and commercial vehicles, motorbikes, vehicle parts and accessories and aftersales services. The company also offers consumers a range of consumer finance solutions to fund the acquisition of their vehicles.

The Position:

• Completing accounting and finance-related tasks in an accurate and timely manner to ensure a timely month-end close
• Owning the monthly reconciliations and substantiation of Receivables and Inventories
• Support the Finance Officers in the daily monitoring of cash settlements and accounts receivables as necessary
• Reporting and following through up to a collection of aged debtors and provisioning requirements
• Produce weekly cashflow projections and daily payment forecasts
• Owning the Group tax calculations and relationship with service providers
• Execute policies and procedures to administer the Finance Department and financial areas within the company in collaboration with Finance Management
• Supervise and monitor the work of Finance Officers in line with Group policies and procedures, accounting standards and fiscal requirements
• Actively look for and propose improvements to the manual and electronic processes utilised in the Finance Department to carry out day-to-day activities
• Manage, lead and motivate Finance Officers in line with the culture of the Group
• Carry out any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by Management.

The Requirements:

• Qualified accountant with 5 years working experience
• Strong accounting technical knowledge
• Highly analytical with a passion for problem-solving
• Proficient in the use of Excel, Microsoft Office and accounting programmes
• Able to work in a dynamic environment
• Very good team player
• Proven track record of meeting deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Maltese and English.
