Our client, a well-established provider of business and commercial services in Malta, is looking to hire a Manager - VAT Specialist (Tax Department).

The chosen candidate will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to clients on all aspects of Value Added Tax (VAT) and ensuring compliance with VAT regulations. Lead and mentor the VAT team, fostering a collaborative, positive, and results-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on all aspects of VAT, including compliance, registration, VAT returns, and the treatment of VAT on transactions. 
  • Take a leadership role in overseeing and managing VAT related tasks. 
  • Analyse clients' financial data to ensure compliance with VAT regulations and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Monitor changes in VAT legislation and communicate their impact to clients. 
  • Provide training to clients and colleagues on VAT regulations and procedures. 
  • Review and manage VAT returns and ensure timely submission to relevant authorities. 
  • Respond to VAT-related queries from clients and relevant authorities. 
  • Assist in the resolution of VAT disputes and represent clients in VAT-related audits. 
  • Conduct reviews of client VAT compliance processes and identify areas for improvement. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of advanced experience in VAT compliance and/or advisory services, with a history of leading engagements and managing complex client portfolios.  
  • In-depth knowledge of VAT regulations and procedures. 
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Strong client relationship management skills. 
  • Qualified accountant (bachelor’s degree in accounting, ACCA, or related field). 
  • Any other professional qualification in VAT and experience in other areas of tax compliance will be considered as an asset.
