Our client, a leading name in Malta's hospitality and leisure industry, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their finance team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the financial leadership of a well-established organization that operates premium hotels, restaurants, and retail concepts across the island.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will play a strategic role in supporting decision-making, ensuring compliance, and leading a dedicated finance team to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting. You will collaborate closely with Department Heads, Senior Management, and the Group Chief Financial Officer to strengthen financial performance and support growth across multiple business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and support performance reviews.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting.
  • Develop cash flow statements and financial reports as required.
  • Submit timely and accurate VAT returns.
  • Conduct financial analysis for new and ongoing business opportunities.
  • Oversee and improve internal financial control processes.
  • Act as the primary contact for external auditors during statutory audits.
  • Monitor debtors and credit control procedures, reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer.
  • Supervise and support accounts staff in managing daily cash settlements and receivables.
  • Ensure compliance with group policies, accounting standards, and fiscal regulations.
  • Propose and implement finance policies and process improvements.
  • Mentor and develop the finance team in alignment with the groups values.

Requirements

  • ACCA qualification or equivalent (mandatory).
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within hospitality or multi-entity operations.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Office applications.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems will be considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and initiative.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
