A highly regarded and reputable client of ours, specialised within the Retail sector, is looking to onboard a Chief Financial Officer ( CFO ) to join their team. The designated person will be working closely with, and reporting to, the CEO, and responsibilities are as follows:

Duties:

  • Develop and implement the Company's long-term financial strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to the Board of Directors and CEO, on financial, commercial, and operational matters, providing financial insight to support business growth, expansion projects, and investment opportunities.
  • Ensure timely preparation of monthly management accounts, quarterly reports, and annual financial statements.
  • Present financial reports and performance analysis to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor budget performance, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions, analysing sales trends, gross margins, operating expenses, inventory levels, and profitability across business units.
  • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and all applicable statutory requirements.
  • Identify risks and opportunities affecting business performance and recommend appropriate action plans, participating in strategic planning, budgeting, and business development initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with all tax, VAT, payroll, and statutory obligations, developing and maintaining effective internal controls and financial policies.
  • Lead the annual external and internal audit processes and coordinate with auditors.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, banks, insurers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to ensure high levels of performance and professional growth.
  • Review departmental processes and implement efficiencies through technology and automation.
  • Review and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and internal processes, leading finance-related digital transformation projects where applicable.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7–10 years' progressive finance experience, including at least 3–5 years in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to translate financial data into business insights.
  • Would ideally hold previous experience within retail, wholesale, FMCG, or a multi-site business environment.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Adaptable, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast- paced environment.

Education and Experience

  • Must be a fully qualified and locally warranted finance professional
