Accounting Assistant

An International Financial Services company is currently setting up their operations in Malta and they are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join their team. 

Duties include: 

• Process and monitor incoming payments and invoices.
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
• Process the required information in supplier management control sheet on daily basis
• Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
• Maintain and update financial records.
• Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
• Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct daybook, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile discrepancies found in records.
• Assist in the preparation of reports (if required)
• Produce the reports with accuracy and deliver by deadline
• Assist with the preparation of one off analysis e.g. supplier’s annual cost and forecast (if required) 
• Assist with VAT returns (if required)
• Assist with the preparation of tax files in readiness of external tax filing by advisors
• Ensure compliance with local financial laws and regulations.
• Provide administrative support to the finance team.
• Assist with audits, fact checks, and resolving discrepancies.

• Minimum of 1/2 years of local accounting experience
• Experience in SAP is an advantage but not essential. Good MS Excel skills.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English

• A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
