Accountant

Our client within the aviation industry is looking for an Accountant to join the team 

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring all balances are accurate.

• Ensuring timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes, following best practices. 
• Overseeing accounts payable: ensure prompt payment of invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and address any discrepancies. 
• Managing accounts receivable: raise invoices, ensure swift collection of payments, and chase outstanding balances. 
• Compiling monthly ageing reports for both accounts payable and receivable. 
• Drafting of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. 
• Scrutinizing financial data to pinpoint trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for cost reduction. 
• Collaborating with the finance team to finalising and present financial reports to senior management. 
• Aiding in the formulation of the company’s budget and financial forecasts. 
• Monitoring actual financial performance against the budget, highlighting any significant variances. 
• Providing support in financial modelling and projections. 
• Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT/tax/statistical returns, ensuring they adhere to accepted principles and guidelines. 
• Conducting thorough credit risk assessments for potential clients, customers and vendors. 
• Maintaining and reconcile general ledger accounts. 
• Providing essential documentation and information during audits. 
• Administering payroll timely, ensuring accurate calculations.

• Preferably at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Good working knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and handling multiple priorities
• Fluent in the Maltese Language
• Preferably experience in leading a small team

• An MQF Level 7 qualification in accounts or equivalent which allows the holder to obtain the warrant of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
