Our client, a reputable insurance company is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Accountant a strong background in finance, an eye for accuracy, and experience in accountingto join their team.
Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly management accounts, including cashbook preparation and importing transactions into the accounting system.
Monitor foreign exchange movements.
Handle banking and payments runs.
Manage cashflow.
Ensure ongoing statutory and regulatory compliance by preparing and submitting various monthly, quarterly, and annual returns, meeting local/EU requirements.
Maintain statistics for monitoring the insurance program, claims development, and other key ratios.
Manage the audit process by acting as the key contact and providing all requested information to the Company's auditors.
Maintain records of all day-to-day transactions.
Supervise the Finance Assistant, including reviewing completed work, providing assistance with duties, and serving as the point of contact for queries and problems.
Support the Finance Director in managing the Company's finances and accounting requirements.
Ensure proper submission of the Company's tax returns and compliance with tax regulations, including Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) and VAT.
Ensure the Company's accounting records, payments, and receipts align with the provisions and terms of all agreements.
Assist the Finance Director in ensuring timely receipt or payment of amounts due to or by the Company, in accordance with relevant agreements.
Assist and support the Managing Director in reporting, budgeting, and finance-related matters, as applicable.
Occasional business travel may be necessary to accomplish the mentioned responsibilities.
Skill-sets and Requirements
Proficient in financials, including producing monthly management accounts, preparing quarterly and annual returns, and creating business plans and projections
Sound understanding of regulatory and statutory regimes and compliance requirements, particularly relating to self-managed insurers.
Familiar with IFRS 17
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Strong knowledge of Excel and Power BI
Familiarity with the business banking digital system
