Malta Enterprise is the country’s economic development agency, tasked with attracting new foreign investment, helping local startups to set up, as well as facilitating the growth and development of existing operations. Thanks to its close and constant interaction with the main economic players in the country, the Corporation acts as an adviser to the government on economic policy. Besides providing various incentives and support measures, Malta Enterprise also operates facilities with services aimed at supporting businesses and in particular startups. These include Business First, which provides a one-stop-shop for essential business services. It also operates the Malta Life Sciences Park, which facilitates collaboration mainly in research and life sciences between the University of Malta, Mater Dei Hospital, the specialised Oncology Hospital, as well as the private sector. The Park also houses innovative, leading-edge projects in digital technologies, particularly those having synergies with the life sciences sector. The Kordin Business Incubation Centre (KBIC) provides the space for startups proposing novel or enhanced solutions to industry, especially within sectors such as manufacturing, industrial services, ICT, digital games development, audio-visual and life sciences. Malta Enterprise is also the national contact point for the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), through which Malta-based startups can collaborate with their counterparts in over 60 other countries and expand their prospects beyond our shores.
