MeDirect Bank Malta is currently looking to recruit an Application Support Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis.

Overview:

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform system installations, configurations, deployments and maintenance
  • Taking ownership of software platforms relating to the bank’s operations
  • Support the healthiness of the Applications through implementation and testing of the latest releases and patches delivered by Third Party Suppliers throughout the year
  • Document and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both existing and new procedures
  • Engage in daily tasks of the Applications Support / Core DevOps teams, focusing on process optimization, control, and automation using various available tools such as schedulers and scripts
  • Follow up on issue resolution and documentation with vendors and internal teams
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Application Support Team Lead
  • The role provides the option for an extra monetary allowance should the candidate be available to be included as part of a weekly on-call rota to support and maintain core critical processes during Out Of Office Hours.

Required knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Fully proficient and articulate in English Language
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating system environments
  • Experience with Incident Management and Release Management processes
  • Ability to execute queries on RDBMS systems including Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL for daily support and maintenance operations
  • Experience with Java Application servers such as Tomcat, JBOSS, or Websphere
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Perl, Python, Powershell or PHP
  • Effective problem solving, and independent thinking skills for troubleshooting
  • Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Candidate needs to be driven and motivated, with a focus on result-oriented goals, willing to work in an energetic, fast paced team environment.

Additional Considerations:

  • Prior Experience in Microsoft Dynamics Nav software, together with its respective development tool is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of load balancing technologies such as HA-Proxy and F5
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP, Routing, and Firewalling concepts
  • Good understanding of GIT or GITHUB workflows
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Zabbix, Grafana, Loki
  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar
  • Experience/knowledge with OpenShift operations would be considered an asset
  • Prior experience in a Applications Support / DevOps role or similar.
