The National Statistics Office in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Casual Field Officer to join their team on a part-time basis.

Overview:

The National Statistics Office is looking for committed, responsible and detail-oriented individuals capable of collecting data from survey participants (individuals, households and businesses) for the Household Budget Survey 2024 and other concurrent surveys. Prospective applicants must be discreet and capable of handling sensitive and confidential data.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidates will be required to work on a project-based approach and will be expected to have a flexible working schedule.

  • Field Officers will report to the Head of the Data Collection Unit and will be expected to abide by the directions and/or timeframes set by the Unit
  • Data collection may be through telephone, electronic devices (such as tablets and laptops) or face-to-face interviews with households, individuals, and business. Any devices (including mobile phones) will be provided by the NSO
  • Briefing/training sessions prior to each data collection project will be provided by the NSO during which, the project’s technical details will be presented and working schedules assigned
  • Field Officers must ensure that the information collected is of good quality and in accordance to the guidelines set by the Office
  • Field Officers will be responsible for the safekeeping of individual information provided to them, by the Office and the respondents, for the sole purpose of official statistics.

Job Requirements:

  • Very good written and verbal communication skills in Maltese and English
  • Good level of computer literacy (proficiency in using an electronic mobile device such as a smart phone, tablet and/or laptop).

Renumeration:

Remuneration for the Household Budget Survey 2024 has been set at €70 per complete household. Remuneration shall cover, inter alia, all costs incurred by the interviewer in contacting respondents as well as transport costs.
