Under the direction of the SAS Council, the Social Worker will have responsibilities such as:

- Providing emotional and social support to families/individuals

- Carrying out assessments of the needs of the service users

- Helping service-users access services and supporting them strive towards independence

- Provide support to various parishes, who require support and mentorship with regards to supporting vulnerable families in their locality

- Liaising with other professionals and organisations to ensure that service-users’ needs are met holistically

- Maintain records ensuring confidentiality and preparing ad hoc reports

The successful candidate will be offered a 3 year contract agreement with AKM. The minimum working hours will be of 15 hours per week. There is a possibility of a hybrid work environment. The salary is negotiable.

The applicant is expected to be a warranted Social Worker.

The applicant should also possess:

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to successfully manage complex relationships with authorities and stakeholders;

• Team work skills and willingness to work withing an environment of voluntary organisation;

• A high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-oriented;

• The ability to supervise and manage projects in conjunction with government and civil society entities and organisations;

• High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, internet tools, communication tools and the ability and willingness to learn to use other technology related aides;

• Good command of both written and spoken English and Maltese; and 

• Clean Police Conduct.


Azzjoni Kattolika Maltija:
Azzjoni Kattolika Maltija (Maltese Catholic Action) is an NGO working with people of different ages, backgrounds and needs, coming from all over the Maltese islands. It is a Catholic organisation led by volunteers. It comprises of around 1,500 members, and provides personal, social and spiritual development for its members on a weekly basis. A number of activities and events are organised throughout the year. AKM also carries out a number of social projects and provides social services for society at large. It also publishes a Catholic newspaper on a weekly basis.
