General Scope and Purpose of Position

We are currently looking for a dedicated and professional Physiotherapist to join our team on a full-time basis. the chosen candidate shall be responsible for conducting initial screenings and providing physiotherapy assessments and interventions for referred service users. Monitor and train staff, coordinate physiotherapy services, delegate workloads, and develop interventions based on clinical evidence.

The Physiotherapist (PT) forms part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) that provides therapeutic & educational services for service users registered to Inspire. The service has been set up to: 

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments & provide an appropriate therapeutic care package for each service user. 
  • Provide appropriate physical, psychological & social rehabilitation through individual & group therapy sessions; 
  • Work in partnership with service users, carers & voluntary organisations to develop a resource of information, advice & self-management techniques; 
  • Facilitate continuity of care following discharge from the service by referral & liaison with other support agencies.  

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning & delivery of PT within the programme/service.
  • Attend service user screening sessions & to identify those service users that would benefit from PT input. 
  • Manage a caseload of service users with complex needs using specialist PT skills. This should include evidence based, service user centred principles to assess, plan implement & evaluate interventions.
  • Plan & implement service user centred individual & group interventions using clinical reasoning & a wide range of interventions to achieve therapeutic goals.
  • Monitor, evaluate & modify treatment for service users with multiple needs to measure progress & ensure effectiveness of intervention.
  • Undertake therapeutic moving & handling of service users & equipment, within clinical & non-clinical settings.
  • Work with service users, carers & relatives who may have distressing social circumstances.
  • Provide supervision of Physiotherapy students on practice placement.
  • To make confident decisions about interventions following assessment. These decisions will frequently be made using own clinical reasoning at the time if working alone.
  • To maintain existing skills & develop/receive training in new skills as required to carry out the work of Inspire.
  • Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with ‘best practice’ risk management.
  • Participate in the operational planning & implementation of policy & service development within the programme/service, leading on delegated projects.
  • Lead in the delivery of delegated areas of the PT development plan within the programme/service.
  • Provide input & advice on PT to other staff & managers at a local level, attending service meetings as required. 

Role Requirements

The ideal candidate must be in possession of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) qualification (equivalent to a minimum of MQF Level 6) in Physiotherapy;
  • Previous experience working in a multidisciplinary team (disability field);
  • Registered with Council for the Professions Complimentary to Medicine (CPCM) registration;
  • Highly proficient in English language (both spoken & written).

Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunization.
