General Scope and Purpose of Position

We are currently looking for Assistant swimming coaches to join our team on a part-time basis. Our Assistant Swimming Coaches shall be responsible with assisting our coaches in planning, overseeing, and directing the class of various pool activities and services. The ideal candidate should be proactive, supportive, and able to recommend ideas related to the departmental goals.

 Duties & responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing the swimming lessons program;
  • Enforces pool rules and maintains discipline;
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from staff and customers in a prompt and professional manner;
  • Ensures that all the possible safety measures are observed, including taking care of proper equipment, conducting regular inspections and training swimming instructors;
  • Assumes the responsibility for the health and safety of swimming lessons participants;
  • Responds quickly and effectively to all rescue and/or emergency situations. Performs first aid techniques and rescue procedures as necessary;
  • Oversees the development, promotion, and implementation of a diversified aquatics program for all ages in accordance with community needs; evaluates program effectiveness; recommends changes and implements management decisions;
  • Reports incidents and complaints as required;
  • Attends the required training as required;
  • To assist with any routine administration work as requested;
  • To maintain and upkeep the pool facilities to highest hygiene and health and safety standards;
  • To carry out tasks and duties related to pool maintenance and upkeeping (non-technical);
  • Abide to health and safety requirements under the guidance of the Health and Safety consultant.
  • Be an active participant in an environment that facilitates trust, open communication, creative thinking and cohesive team effort;
  • Work alongside the whole team to ensure a smooth and positive experience is provided to all customers.

Qualification Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • MQF Level 3 in swimming/sports/Physical Education or certification in relevant field;
  • Candidates with previous experience in a similar role/environment would be considered as an asset;
  • Preference will be given to candidates in possession of Lifeguard certification;
  • Available to work on weekends;
  • Advantage will be given to candidates already in primary employment / full-time students.

Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunisation.
