Provide reliable maintenance support across College campuses facilities, performing general building upkeep with a focus on electrical tasks. Maintain safe, functional, and well-presented premises to support day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Routine maintenance: Perform scheduled inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Electrical duties: Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, lighting, switches, outlets, circuit breakers, and distribution boards in accordance with regulations.
- Fault diagnosis: Quickly identify faults, isolate issues, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Emergency response: Attend to urgent maintenance and electrical issues as required, including after-hours call-outs when necessary.
- Facilities upkeep: Carry out carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, and general building repairs to maintain safe and attractive facilities.
- Monitoring and reporting: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, report recurring problems, and recommend improvements or replacements.
- Health & safety compliance: Follow safe working practices, ensure compliance with local electrical and building codes, and participate in risk assessments.
- Inventory and tools: Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and spare parts; request replacements and keep inventory up to date.
- Collaborative work: Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to complete projects and ensure continuity of services.
- Customer service: Provide courteous assistance to staff and students when addressing facility-related concerns.
Skills and Qualifications
- Essential qualifications: Basic electrical certification or equivalent trade qualification relevant to electrical work.
- Experience level: Entry-level candidates with practical exposure to building maintenance and electrical tasks; apprenticeships or on-the-job training acceptable.
- Technical skills: Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, fault-finding, basic plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance techniques.
- Language skills: Working knowledge of Maltese and English to communicate effectively with staff and contractors.
- Personal attributes: Reliable, proactive, solution-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team, with good attention to detail.
- Physical requirements: Able to perform manual tasks, work at heights, and handle tools and equipment safely.
