Category Manager

We are looking for a Category Manager to join our Commercial team. In this role, you will play a key role in driving category growth through sharp analysis, optimised ranging, and highly effective data-driven planograms that deliver visible results on the shop floor.

As Category Manager, you will be a critical support to the Head of Commercial, working closely on category strategy, performance improvement initiatives, and commercial decision-making that directly influence sales and profitability across our supermarket operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute robust category strategies focused on sales growth, margin improvement, and market share.
• Create data-driven planograms, promotional displays, and in-store executions that maximise space productivity and shopper appeal.
• Perform in-depth weekly and monthly analysis of sales, margin, space, and category performance using Power BI and retail systems.
• Optimise product assortment, ranging decisions, new listings, and SKU rationalisation.
• Work hand-in-hand with shop managers to ensure flawless in-store implementation and visual merchandising standards.
• Monitor competitor activity and market trends, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
• Support the Head of Commercial with category reviews, business cases, and strategic projects.

What You’ll Bring

• Diploma or Degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field.
• 4 years of hands-on experience in category management, buying, or commercial roles within a supermarket or retail environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with proven ability to interpret complex data and translate it into clear actions.
• Excellent understanding of planograms, space planning, pricing, promotions, and visual merchandising.
• Proficiency in Power BI (essential).
• Commercial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple categories under tight deadlines.
• Passion for retail and a results-oriented approach.
