Role Summary

The Cafeteria Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a Coffee Fellows cafeteria outlet in Malta. This role combines hands-on leadership with operational excellence, ensuring every guest enjoys outstanding food, coffee, and service in a welcoming environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, skilled at managing teams, and committed to upholding the Coffee Fellows brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Oversee all daily cafeteria operations, including opening and closing procedures.

• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service in line with Coffee Fellows guidelines.

• Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage supplier relationships to ensure product availability.

• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times.

• Manage equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs as needed.

Team Leadership

• Create and manage staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage during all service periods.

• Conduct regular team briefings and performance reviews, providing coaching and feedback.

• Foster a positive, motivated, and collaborative team culture.

Financial Management

• Monitor daily sales, analyse performance data, and report on KPIs to management.

• Identify and suggest strategies to drive revenue and improve profitability.

Guest Experience

• Champion a guest-first culture, ensuring every customer interaction reflects Coffee Fellows values.

• Handle customer feedback and complaints promptly and professionally.

Requirements

Essential

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality, food service, or retail.

• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (Food Handler’s Certificate or equivalent preferred).

• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.

• Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Commercially minded with experience managing budgets and sales targets.

• Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer skills (MS Office or equivalent).

• Valid right to work in Malta / EU.

• Valid Food Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon appointment).

Desirable

• Experience in a coffee shop, café, or quick-service restaurant environment.

• Barista training or specialty coffee knowledge.

• Experience with stock management and ordering systems.

• English language proficiency; additional languages are an advantage.
