Head of Risk

Our client, operating within the payments and bitcoin industry is looking for a Head of Risk to help build the company in Malta.

Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain the organisation’s risk management framework and supporting methodologies.
• Monitor and evaluate risks across operational, financial, technology, outsourcing, compliance, and strategic activities.
• Establish risk metrics and reporting mechanisms to support management and Board oversight.
• Prepare regular risk reports, highlighting key exposures, trends, and emerging concerns.
• Oversee risk assessments for new initiatives, projects, products, and third-party arrangements.
• Ensure risk policies, procedures, and controls remain effective and fit for purpose.
• Coordinate the management of incidents, control weaknesses, and corrective actions.
• Advise senior management on risk-related matters and regulatory expectations.
• Deliver risk awareness initiatives and encourage strong risk ownership throughout the business.

Requirements

• Extensive local experience in a similar role
• Must be eligible for MFSA approval as a Key Function Holder.

Education and Experience

• Degree in Finance, Risk, Economics, or related field.
• Professional certfications (FRM, PRM, ICA Risk, or equivalent) are an asset.
