AIMS International Malta is assisting our client, who operates within the public sector, with recruiting a Senior Associate (National Coordination).

Responsibilities:

  • Support the National Coordination Team Manager in implementing the strategic direction of the Supervision Section in relation to national coordination activities, ensuring effective execution of supervisory functions.
  • Support the National Coordination Team’s operations, ensuring alignment with supervisory strategy, internal policies, and established working practices and standards, while promoting efficiency of operations and use of resources.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of systems and controls to monitor the Team’s day-to-day operations and deliverables, including reviewing the quality and timeliness of coordination deliverables, submissions and other documents.
  • Coordinate and contribute to work related to the implementation of AMLD/AMLR requirements and other EU-level developments, including planning, internal coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support coordination and cooperation with AMLA in relation to joint supervisory inspections and other joint supervisory activities, including planning, information requests/exchanges, participation arrangements, and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate and support contributions to evaluations, assessments, and follow-up processes carried out by local and international bodies (e.g. Egmont Group, MONEYVAL, ESMA, FATF), including the compilation and quality review of questionnaires, submissions and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure effective internal coordination across Supervision teams and other sections on national and EU coordination deliverables, including timely collation of data, inputs and evidence, and tracking of actions arising from external requests and evaluations.
  • Support the coordination of all matters relating to the National Coordination Committee for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism, including contributions to the National Risk Assessment and related initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to the team in delivering coordination workstreams, including monitoring deadlines, prioritising tasks and escalating issues where necessary.
  • Liaise and cooperate with competent authorities and stakeholders as required.
  • Represent the organisation at national and international meetings, fora and workshops relevant to the team’s remit.
  • Provide support during ad hoc projects, including those requiring cross-sectional coordination and cooperation.
  • Provide training and guidance on national and EU coordination activities, and contribute to the development and updating of internal procedures and working practices.
  • Provide periodic updates to senior management and relevant committees regarding progress on ongoing projects within the Team’s remit.
  • Fulfil any other duties delegated by management.

Requirements:

  • An MQF Level 6 qualification in law, audit, accounting, economics, financial services, banking, or another relevant subject, and at least four years of relevant work experience; OR an MQF Level 5 qualification in a relevant field and at least five years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations relating to the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism in Malta, as well as applicable international standards and EU legislation.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage escalations, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to produce clear, concise, high-quality reports.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Experience in policy, quality assurance, audit, or project management is considered an asset.
