We are looking for a new team member to join our Legal and Compliance department as a Senior Regulatory Counsel – Policy and Governmental Matters. The Legal and Compliance Department acts as a support function on all such matters across the Group and interacts with many different aspects of the online gambling business on a daily basis.
Job description
As the Senior Regulatory Counsel – Policy & Governmental Matters you are responsible to follow local, European and international governmental and institutional developments and will be in charge of keeping abreast with all relevant regulatory developments, while advising the business in relation to the same. This will involve needing to be present at the meetings of various associations and for a as a representative of the group and coordinating the continuous participation of Betsson Group in all such meetings. This also involves preparing papers, making interventions on behalf of the group with regard to various areas, and providing feedback to relevant organisations on the line to take in their different initiatives.
You will support in the management of regulatory risk together with the General Counsel and the two Directors in the team, which also involves ensuring that the business’ activities are in line with the internal appetite. As part of your responsibilities, you will need to review and evaluate business proposals, new legislative initiatives relating to the gaming industry as well as others which may have a horizontal impact on our daily operations, and various risk and governance elements. You will need to liaise closely with certain internal stakeholders such as (i) commercial, (ii) business development, (iii) public affairs, and (iii) operations and several external stakeholders including team members from group subsidiaries, external local counsel and counterpart lawyers and professionals within the wider industry.
At Betsson Group this function sits within the Office of the General Counsel. You will report to the General Counsel and work closely with the Deputy General Counsel, the Director of Compliance and other key individuals within the department. This role has room for further growth within the same organisation and a clear career path will be offered to the right candidate.
You will be based in Malta but international travel is required.
