Job Description

Vaia Legal, a boutique law firm specialising in corporate, aviation and yachting transactions is looking for an Associate to join its growing team. This is a unique opportunity to get a foothold in this growing industry, join a modern team and develop your career further. 

As the Associate with Vaia Legal, you will provide a range of administrative and legal support to the team, the role is intended for future growth and the successful candidate will be exposed to several processes and services offered in the Aviation and Maritime legal sector. This role is intended for a responsible and mature individual holding a degree in law. 

The role is being offered on a full-time basis and the necessary training will be given. 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Completion of standard forms.
  • Drafting and reviewing of legal instruments.
  • Liaising with the Malta Business Registry, Transport Malta, and other Malta Government agencies.
  • Handling of corporate matters of Malta-registered companies.
  • Coordinating and handling day-to-day client requests and follow-ups.
  • Preparation and submission of statutory filings and corporate documents as well as performing other statutory obligations as required.
  • Compliance matters in line with CSP requirements. 
  • Liaising with Lawyers, Accountants, Auditors and other service providers on behalf of our corporate clients.
  • Scheduling of board and shareholder meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and drafting resolutions.
  • Support the teams by reviewing and drafting contracts/agreements.
  • Ensuring compliance with set deadlines and
  • Generally fulfilling any KPIs which the company may indicate from time to time.

Our Requirements:

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. 
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently with little supervision and motivated to help grow the team and firm portfolio.
  • A can-do attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English and Maltese).
  • A valid driving license.
  • A university degree in law and a valid warrant to practice. 
  • A minimum of two years’ working experience in a similar environment, 5 years would be ideal.
  • Previous experience working with a corporate services provider, corporate, legal, compliance or accountancy environment will be considered an asset.
