Whilst reporting to the Restaurant Manager, the Waiter is responsible to provide professional service to our guests dining at Mykonos by Yiamas. The Waiter/ Waitress will deliver friendly and excellent customer service to our patrons and create a welcoming atmosphere. Looking approachable and professional is of utmost importance. He/she is to be part of the waiting team by performing any waiter duties.

Duties

  • Serve food and beverage during the day-to-day restaurant operations
  • Set up tables by preparing linens, silverware and glasses
  • Give great customer service, being friendly and confident when interacting with both colleagues and guests
  • Warmly greet and serve customers
  • Present menus to guests and make recommendations
  • Have in-depth knowledge of menu and be able to provide detailed explanation of the content of the food being served
  • Clean and organise tables and dining areas after guests have finished their meals
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and dismantling the dining area, and restocking supplies as required
  • Adhere to the internal standard operating procedures to be followed by all front of house personnel
  • Comply with all employer guidelines and legal requirements for health and safety, hygiene, fire safety, licensing and employment
  • Perform assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with work requirements

Work Schedule

  • 20 hours a week split as required by restaurant hours
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends/holidays as required

Experience

  • Minimum experience of 1 year in the food catering industry as a waiter will be considered an asset

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Professional appearance and behaviour
  • Able to proficiently communicate in English, additional languages are welcome especially Greek
  • Knowledge of Greek cuisine and culture is a plus
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Must be self-motivated and organised
  • Excellent talent to interact with people in a positive and courteous manner
