Housekeeping Supervisor
General Purpose of Position
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation throughout the Malta National Aquarium Complex, including Café del Mar Beach Club and associated facilities. The role involves supervising the cleaning operations, coordinating housekeeping staff and subcontracted services, maintaining operational standards during daily operations and events, and ensuring efficient use of resources and supplies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the housekeeping and general cleaning team, including subcontracted personnel.
- Identify operational priorities and effectively delegate tasks to team members.
- Ensure all public areas, offices, facilities, and operational spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Develop, implement, and maintain cleaning procedures and schedules for daily operations and special events.
- Monitor housekeeping standards and conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with company expectations.
- Prepare and manage staff schedules, including additional manpower requirements for events and peak periods.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of cleaning supplies and equipment through efficient inventory management and ordering.
- Ensure the proper use, storage, and maintenance of cleaning equipment and materials.
- Assist in training, motivating, and developing team members to ensure high performance and teamwork.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and company policies at all times.
- Respond promptly and professionally to operational issues and cleaning-related requests.
- Work closely with management and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations and exceptional guest experience.
- Be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, according to operational requirements.
Knowledge, Experience and Education required
- Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in housekeeping, cleaning operations, or a similar role.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a multicultural team.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Fluency in English; additional languages will be considered an asset
Malta National Aquarium Complex:
The Malta National Aquarium complex is spread over approximately 20,000 square meters and comprises a public aquarium, a public landscaped belvedere at promenade level, a multi-story car park, three catering facilities including a beach club, a merchandise outlet, and a tourist information kiosk. The public aquarium has 51 display tanks with, amongst others, Mediterranean fish, including fish commonly found in Maltese waters together with replicas of historical artifacts that one can find in the seas around the Maltese islands. All tanks are expertly themed to replicate the underwater environment. Additional features of the public aquarium include a classroom facility, interpretation, touch pools, a temporary exhibition space, veterinary and quarantine facilities, etc. Enhancing further the standard of the Malta National Aquarium Complex, one can find the legendry Cafe Del Mar from Ibiza for the reef pool area. The Café del Mar will bring a relaxing and entertaining tone in music to the reef area adding to the serenity of the reef area of the complex were every summer, thousands of tourists flock to the café to view the beautiful sunsets and listen to Café Del Mar’s signature chill out music.
