Food & Beverage Specialist

MRecruitment Limited in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Food & Beverage Specialist to join their client's team on a full-time basis.

Job Role:
The chosen candidate will serve food and beverages on cruise and river ships as a Food & Beverage Specialist.  The selected candidate must ensure friendly and professional service in the restaurant, at the bar, lounge and the sundeck to the guests’ fullest satisfaction and in accordance with the company’s standards and operating procedures. 
 
Responsibilities:

• Professional, welcoming and sales-oriented service in restaurant, bar, lounge and on the sundeck
• Fully responsible for the correct use of the pager / Wait Order System
• Operation of all SOP procedures according to company standards
• Execution of all F&B activities including functions and special events as laid out by management
• Quality control of the lunch set-ups in the restaurant and lounge
• Ensure the highest level of cleanliness within the restaurant, bar, pantry, lounge, and sundeck in accordance with HACCP standards           
• Inventory according to company procedures, correct storage of stock; establishing of par levels
• Preparation of opening and closing ships at the start and end of the season
• Assistance in other departments upon instruction from supervisors (as required)
• Active participation in onboard training programs
• Luggage duty on embarkation and disembarkation day, and participation in loadings
• Participate in the departmental “Daily Reunion”
• Ability to effectively and professionally deal with customers, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
• Participate in the daily menu presentation.

• Outstanding flexibility: must be able to work different times of the day, under pressure and focused at all times, even under difficult conditions, with a positive can-do attitude and showcasing the best image of the company

Product Knowledge

• Be fully proficient and knowledgeable about the F&B Operations, including but not limited to menu cycle, function sheets, wine menu, whisky menu, bar menu and suite amenity program
• Become knowledgeable about all itinerary-related ports of call and shore excursions
• Full knowledge of the daily program

Security

• Full knowledge of safety and security procedures
• Participation in all training concerning safety and security, fire prevention, and evacuation exercises as required by the company

Requirements:

• Minimum secondary level education / High School diploma
• Degree with a hospitality focus is an asset
• A minimum of two years experience in an upscale cruise line or hotel of comparable size in a similar position
• Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills
• Must be able to deal correctly with confidential information and must be discrete
• Must be well groomed and maintain impeccable hygiene standards
• Extensive walking required and the ability to stand on feet for a long time
• Hours may vary based on organisational needs and operational demands
• Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality and professional appearance
• Flexible and stress resistant, team player, shows commitment
• Extensive wine and bar knowledge.

*Cruise ships' roles are subject to appearance standards (including in relation to visible tattoos) and employees are expected to project a professional image at all times. Visible tattoos are not permitted on all vessels. Tattoo removal is not encouraged and is the candidate’s personal decision.
