Palazzo Ignazio in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Cook to join their team on a full-time basis

Summary:

The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals according to menu specifications, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. The role involves collaborating with the kitchen team to deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation and Cooking:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to recipes, portion sizes, and menu specifications
  • Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet standards
  • Adapt recipes or preparation techniques to accommodate special dietary requirements when necessary.

2. Kitchen Operations:

  • Manage food preparation timelines to ensure dishes are served promptly
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies
  • Assist in inventory control, ordering, and receiving supplies.

3. Hygiene and Food Safety:

  • Follow all food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling and storage of ingredients
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized kitchen environment
  • Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations.

4. Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other kitchen staff and provide support as needed
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and management to resolve issues or improve workflow
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior kitchen staff if required.

5. Equipment Management:

  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a cook in a professional kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques, equipment, and ingredients
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Capacity to lift heavy pots, pans, and other kitchen items when necessary
  • Stamina to work in hot or stressful environments
  • Applicants must reside in Malta.
