Job Description

As a Commis Chef in the pastry section, you will assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality desserts, pastries, and other baked goods under the guidance of the Pastry Chef. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, helping to ensure all items are prepared and served to the highest standards.

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of pastries, desserts, and other baked goods.
  • Follow recipes and ensure consistency in the quality of pastries and desserts.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Assist in the daily mise en place (prep work) for all pastry items.
  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and help with inventory control.
  • Help with the baking, decorating, and finishing of cakes, pastries, and desserts.
  • Assist in the creation of new pastry items and contribute to the seasonal menu changes.
  • Ensure proper storage of raw ingredients and finished items.
  • Help with the preparation of desserts for banquets, special events, and seasonal promotions.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures within the kitchen environment.
  • Support the Pastry Chef in managing kitchen operations and maintaining high standards of food quality.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, positive work environment
  • Any other tasks commensurate with the role
