CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Homemate is one of Malta's leading home improvement and DIY retailers, operating multiple retail outlets across the island. As we continue to expand and strengthen our operations, we are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our senior leadership team.

This is a key executive role for an ambitious finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and is looking to make a significant impact on the strategic direction and continued growth of the business.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Chief Financial Officer will lead the Group's finance function across multiple companies, ensuring financial stability, strong governance, and strategic decision-making.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both operational excellence and commercial insight. The successful candidate will be expected to oversee the day-to-day financial management of the Group while contributing to long-term business planning, profitability, and growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the finance function across multiple companies within the Group.
• Develop and implement the Group's financial strategy in line with business objectives.
• Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the Board.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning processes.
• Provide commercial and strategic financial advice to the Board of Directors.
• Monitor business performance through financial analysis and key performance indicators.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee year-end accounts, audits, and relationships with external auditors, banks, and financial institutions.
• Strengthen financial controls, policies, systems, and reporting procedures.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, improved efficiencies, and business growth.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
• Support acquisitions, investments, expansion projects, and other strategic initiatives where required.

Requirements

• Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum of 8 years' post-qualification experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Previous experience as a CFO, Financial Controller, Finance Director, or similar executive position.
• Experience within retail, FMCG, distribution, or other fast-paced commercial environments will be considered an asset.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence strategic decisions.
• Excellent knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, and corporate governance.
• Proven leadership and people management experience.
• Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet demanding deadlines.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
