Malta Financial Services Authority is currently looking to recruit an Analyst (Finance) to join their team on a temporary basis.

About the Role
During the Employment Period, the Employee shall carry out the following duties:

  • Coordinate and/or undertake duties of an analytical nature about periodic financial data submitted by licence holders in line with their statutory obligations emanating from their operating licences
  • Monitor the business performance of licence holders together with their level of compliance in line with applicable regulatory standards and financial obligations emanating from the Insurance and Pensions legal framework
  • Identify potential risks about operations and capital adequacy
  • Identify any further action that might be necessary on the MFSA's part as a result of the surveillance process
  • ‘Ad hoc' assignments related to specific regulatory and supervisory issues related to capital adequacy and solvency that arise from time to time
  • To report on the outcome of such assignments as may be appropriate and necessary
  • Participate in on-site compliance visits.


About You:
We are looking for applicants with a solid Accountancy academic background.

The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level. A relevant postgraduate qualification would be considered as an asset.

The applicant is also to possess a minimum of three (3) years’ proven work experience, preferably in the insurance sector and in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to the financial sector, particularly in the area of insurance. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred.

  • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess organisational skills
  • Ability to listen actively and work on one’s initiative as deemed necessary
  • Sound analytical and negotiation skills
  • Conversant with the interpretation of finance statements.

It was established by law on 23 July 2002 taking over supervisory functions previously carried out by the Central Bank of Malta, the Malta Stock Exchange, and the Malta Financial Services Centre.
