Malta Financial Services Authority is currently looking to recruit an Analyst (Banking) to join their team on a full-time basis.

About the Department
The Conduct Supervision Function is responsible for the setting up and implementation of the regulatory framework aiming to secure appropriate consumer protection in the operations of licence holders in the financial services industry. The Conduct Supervision Function is projecting growth as it is gradually assuming a cross-sectorial function covering under its remit supervision the conduct of credit institutions, securities, as well as insurance undertakings and intermediaries.

About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager within Conduct Supervision, you will be expected to carry out the following tasks:

  • Participate in onsite inspections carried out at the premises of licence holders, with a view to assessing the latter's to the applicable conduct of business rules
  • Participate in thematic reviews
  • Review the soundness of quantitative disclosures made to consumers as part of regulatory requirements
  • Reply to queries from licence holders relating to conduct matters which arise on a day-to-day basis
  • Represent the MFSA in engagement with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in work related to the monitoring of reporting obligations of licence holders
  • Assist in the preparation of replies with regard to EU/EBA questionnaires
  • Systematically assess business operations and strategy of licence holders to ensure that consumers' interests are at the heart of the way the business is operating
  • Work closely with the Financial Promotion and Risk Assessment team, tasked with analysing emerging risks and trends in the operation of regulated persons
  • Exercise supervisory judgment in handling cases, challenging licence holders on consumer protection issues and ensuring that such issues are dealt with expeditiously
  • Providing presentations on matters related to conducting supervision in the context of banking to licence holders during webinars or other engagements with the industry
  • Undertake any other tasks as delegated by senior management in line with the exigencies of the Conduct Supervisory Unit and the Authority.


About You
We are looking for candidates with a solid academic background in banking, financial services, law or another related area which is considered relevant to the functions and duties attached to this post.
The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.
You will also possess a minimum of three (3) years of working experience in the area of financial services, preferably banking.
If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least seven (7) years of working experience within a compliance or investigative and/or analytical environment, we would still be interested in speaking with you
