Our client is looking to onboard a Structural Site Engineer to be primarily based on a large construction site, ensuring that construction works are executed in accordance with the approved design, technical specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards. The role requires a proactive professional with strong site experience, capable of coordinating effectively between the design team, contractors, and other project stakeholders. 

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Lead Consultant on site, monitoring construction activities and ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
  • Inspect works to verify quality, workmanship, and compliance with structural and architectural documentation
  • Identify non-conformities, technical issues, and construction risks, recommending practical solutions and reporting to the Lead Engineer
  • Issue site instructions and coordinate technical matters with the design team
  • Organise, attend, and minute site meetings, maintaining accurate records of inspections, instructions, progress, and correspondence
  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and the office-based project team to ensure effective communication and project coordination
  • Review shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements from a site and constructability perspective
  • Monitor project progress and contribute to the timely delivery of works while maintaining quality standards

Requirements

  • Degree in Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Proven experience in site supervision, inspection, or construction coordination on reinforced concrete frame buildings
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, construction methodologies, sequencing, and site practices
  • Ability to confidently interpret structural and architectural drawings
  • Working knowledge of the Eurocodes and relevant construction standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Revit
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and resolve site issues proactively
  • Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of Maltese and additional languages is considered an asset
  • Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality and project delivery
