Our client, a well-established organisation within the marine engineering and ship repair sector, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Foreman to join their Malta-based operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supervising mechanical activities onboard vessels and within shipyard facilities during repair, maintenance, and refit projects. The role ensures that all mechanical works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise mechanical repair, maintenance, and installation activities.
  • Lead teams of mechanics, fitters, and specialised technicians.
  • Monitor work progress and ensure compliance with project schedules and milestones.
  • Supervise maintenance, overhaul, repair, and replacement of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate activities involving engines, pumps, compressors, valves, auxiliary systems, and other shipboard machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with technical procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements.
  • Support planning and execution of dry-docking and refit activities.
  • Coordinate with clients, surveyors, classification societies, and project teams when required.
  • Manage tools, equipment, and workforce assigned to mechanical operations.
  • Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across all works.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in marine mechanical maintenance, ship repair, or a similar industrial environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience in shipyard or large-scale mechanical operations.
  • Strong knowledge of marine machinery and shipboard mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical documentation.
  • Experience with ship repair, refit, and dry-docking projects.
  • Good understanding of shipyard safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
