Job Description

MGC Pharma (Malta) Operations Ltd., a generic pharmaceutical development & manufacturing company operating within the Hal Far Industrial Estate in Malta, is seeking to further expand and strengthen their team. We are looking for an experienced Engineer to organize and oversee the manufacture of our pharmaceutical products. The person will be ultimately responsible for the smooth running of all production lines and the quality of output. Reporting to the Head of Production the chosen candidate will form part of a growing department.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• General Responsibilities

o Ensure compliance with EU GxP and local health and safety regulations.

o Follow and enforce all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

o Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement environment.

o Maintain strict confidentiality and professional conduct.

• Engineering and Maintenance

o Manage upkeep and reliability of facilities, utilities, and production equipment.

o Oversee electrical and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.

o Plan, coordinate, and supervise corrective and preventive maintenance activities.

o Manage procurement and inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials.

• Maintenance and Calibration

o Prepare and execute preventive maintenance plans of both utilities and production equipment. Lead the corrective maintenance interventions required.

o Maintain accurate maintenance and calibration records.

o Lead calibration of critical plant and production equipment.

o Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, and qualification.

• Environmental, Health and Safety

o Lead the EHS function according to local regulations, including the preparation of risk assessments.

o Oversee safe waste disposal and environmental protection procedures.

o Ensure compliance with company-wide EHS standards across all departments.

• Documentation

o Manage external maintenance service agreements and technical documentation.

o Approve and comply with SOPs and EU GMP requirements.

o Maintain complete and secure records of all maintenance activities.

Requirements

• An undergraduate degree in Engineering with an Engineer warrant in Malta.

• Minimum 1 year of experience in engineering, maintenance, or technical project management within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Able to work both independently and in a team environment.

• Able to multi-task and prioritise tasks to maintain deadlines.

• Confident and proactive in carrying out one’s duties
