Malta International Airport plc is looking for dynamic individuals who are passionate about working with people within an Airport environment and are willing to continuously learn, develop, and be part of a high-performance culture. This vacancy has arisen within the Technical Facilities Department on a full-time basis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage electrical upgrades on MIA property, including lighting, HVAC, power distribution, standby supplies, and other systems.
  • Create technical specifications for tenders, evaluate bids, and recommend suppliers and contractors.
  • Oversee compliance with operational, security, and safety standards, addressing issues and ensuring adherence to regulations.
  • Resolve problems and faults during works, perform risk assessments, and supervise third-party activities.
  • Plan and supervise extraordinary works to improve infrastructure, ensuring efficiency and safety.
  • Handle negotiations, manage supplier relationships, control expenses, maintain stock levels, and process job requests.
  • Provide progress reports and coordinate operational area closures with necessary notifications.
  • Maintain infrastructure per regulatory standards, support team development, be on-call, suggest improvements, attend training, and uphold a positive Company image.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of new employees and trainees, ensuring they are well-versed in safety and operational protocols.
  • Be available for emergency call-outs beyond working hours to handle urgent issues and ensure continuous operation.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize maintenance and upgrade processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within a facilities or infrastructure environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, HVAC, and standby power supplies. Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ability to quickly assess and resolve technical issues, with a proactive approach to identifying potential improvements and efficiencies.

In 1958, Malta International Airport was inaugurated in Luqa. There were two floors, a single restaurant, a viewing balcony and we handled approximately 50,000 passengers in one year.
