PTL Limited in Malta is currently seeking to engage a Database Administrator to join its Database & Middleware Services Team in serving and supporting its diverse client base, on a full-time basis.
The Position:
Based in Malta, and reporting to the Head of Enterprise Architecture, the Database Administrator will be responsible for installing and maintaining various database technologies, including Microsoft SQL, for both current and future clients. The role involves monitoring and maintaining database systems, including backups, high availability, and disaster recovery procedures.
The Database Administrator will be tasked with writing, editing, and optimising SQL statements, as well as performance tuning and monitoring of databases. Additionally, the selected candidate will provide recommendations on improvements and conduct maintenance across multiple enterprise-grade solutions.

The Requirements:
The preferred candidate should have at least 3 years of practical experience as a Server Database Administrator and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related ICT field. Proficiency in performance tuning, T-SQL optimization, logical and physical database design, stored procedures, triggers, backups, and upgrades is essential for this role.
The capability to research, recommend, and apply new solutions is fundamental. Candidates with expertise in the following technology areas will be advantageous: Shell scripting; experience in High Availability database environments, familiarity with Azure, SQL, Azure Data Factory, MongoDB, MySQL, DB2, Informix, or Oracle databases and proficiency in scripting using PL/SQL. Additionally, knowledge of performance tuning, security, and LDAP/SSO is highly valued.
Excellent communication skills, fluency in both Maltese and English, clean police conduct, valid driving license, and own means of transport, are also necessary for the role.
