Our Client is responsible for overseeing the gaming industry, ensuring that all activities are fair, transparent, and safe. They work to protect players, prevent illegal activities, and support a well-managed and sustainable gaming sector. 

Role Overview
This role involves leading a specialised team responsible for conducting thorough background assessments and ongoing reviews, ensuring all evaluations meet regulatory expectations and internal standards while maintaining a risk-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Provide daily direction, support, and oversight to the due diligence function, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and adherence to established regulatory frameworks.
• Due Diligence Oversight: Lead and perform comprehensive assessments on applicants and key stakeholders, including detailed background checks and risk evaluations.
• Financial Review Analysis: Supervise and validate reviews relating to Source of Wealth and Source of Funds, ensuring conclusions are well-supported, proportionate, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Risk Assessment & Reporting: Evaluate screening results, identify potential concerns, and produce structured reports outlining findings, risk exposure, and recommended actions.
• Ongoing Monitoring & Improvement: Oversee periodic reviews of authorised entities, support continuous enhancement of internal processes, and contribute to improving overall due diligence practices.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree (MQF Level 6 or equivalent) in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Candidates with a Diploma (MQF Level 5 or equivalent) and significant relevant experience will also be considered.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience within due diligence, compliance, AML/CFT, or a regulatory environment, with strong exposure to financial background analysis.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex findings and recommendations.
• Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
• Technical Skills: Solid understanding of due diligence processes, including background checks, financial source verification, and risk screening techniques.
• Organisation: Excellent organisational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and maintain high standards of accuracy.
• Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a proactive approach to responsibilities and continuous improvement.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex scenarios and provide practical, risk-based solutions.
