For this reason, we are looking to recruit an experienced MLRO/Compliance Officer to join our team. The MLRO/Compliance Officer will oversee the corporate compliance framework within Cashpoint Malta Limited, ensuring full adherence to regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including Malta, Austria, Germany and Denmark. This role will be responsible for overseeing the organisation’s prevention of money laundering activities, in addition to identifying and mitigating compliance risks by ensuring that all operational teams involved in customer interactions and checks operate in line with relevant regulatory and jurisdictional requirements. The role requires a strong operational background, a keen understanding of regulatory requirements, excellent communication skills and the ability to implement and execute processes effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve a robust compliance framework that meets regulatory requirements across Malta, Austria, Germany, Denmark and other jurisdictions as needed
  • Collaborate and work closely with the Head of Compliance and Compliance Officers in each market to establish and uphold internal compliance policies for the operational teams
  • Support the development and execution of compliance directives across multiple markets
  • Conduct regular internal compliance audits to identify gaps in compliance and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure all operational teams handling customer interactions and checks are adhering to local and international regulations
  • Perform regular risk assessments and conduct due diligence on business operations, customer segments and payment channels
  • Act as a point of contact and reference for compliance matters and escalations from internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies
  • Maintain an internal reporting procedure to ensure that any suspicious activities are reported without hindrance and investigated in a timely manner
  • Assisting with financial and external compliance audits and other regulatory compliance reporting
  • Prepare and submit compliance reports to senior management highlighting risks, issues and proposed solutions
  • Provide AML/Compliance training to the operational teams namely Risk, Payments and Fraud, Customer Support, Payment Product, and Data Protection & AML Service and Risk teams to ensure all departments are aligned with compliance standards and best practices
  • Monitor compliance-related tools and suppliers to ensure they are fully optimised for operational efficiency
  • Stay up to date on regulatory changes and proactively implement necessary adjustments to the compliance framework
  • Act as the key function holder and main point of contact with MGA and any other regulatory bodies in relation to compliance
  • Any other related duties as may be required by management from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a Compliance role within the online gaming industry, with specific experience in responsible gaming, AML and data protection, particularly for the MGA regulated markets
  • Be in possession of relevant and recognised AML certifications
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, including responsible gaming standards, AML laws, data protection regulations, and specific requirements for the MGA regulated markets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and apply them to operational processes
  • Exceptional English language skills, both spoken and written. Proficiency in the German language will be considered an asset
  • Able to identify, lead and drive successful change initiatives by being proactive, hands on and solution driven. The role requires a strong sense of ownership, in addition to an ability to work independently and autonomously.
