A highly reputable client of ours, specialising in Corporate services, is looking to onboard a Head of Compliance to join their team of professionals; The designated person will be reporting to the Regional Compliance Director:
Duties:
Act as MLRO and compliance officer for the Company's entities operating from Malta
Act as the primary point of contact for the FIAU, the MFSA and other law enforcement authorities in Malta, also being the primary point of contact for the Group Compliance team
Act as the primary point of contact and compliance advisor for the Board of Directors providing guidance on general compliance, good governance and risk management matters
Handle all third-party claims and insurance reporting to the Group
Pro-actively participate in the organisation and in the provision of ongoing compliance training programs
Manage specific controls including maintenance of registers and/or schedules relating to higher-risk areas of the business
Oversee and participate in compliance monitoring reviews, adopting a risk-based approach, making sure that all reviews are concluded within the stipulated timeframe and reporting the relevant findings to the Group and Risk Committee
Monitor regulatory developments in Malta, primarily focusing on trust, fiduciary and corporate service providers
Managerial responsibilities in handling more complex requirements, assisting the first and second lines of defence as may be required, and being the first point of contact concerning compliance matters for clients and staff
Review and update local compliance policies and procedures as may be required from time to time
Represent the Group at external networking events and conferences as may be required
Undertake other general compliance-related duties from time to time as may be reasonably required
Skill-sets and Requirements
At least 8 years relevant senior experience within the corporate, trust or financial services industry
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Culturally sensitive and experienced in dealing with multiple nationalities and business cultures
Must have knowledge of relevant Maltese and EU legislation
Strong team-player with experience working in a dynamic organisation and ability to build bridges between different stakeholders within the organisation
Education & Experience
Must be in posession of a Degree in a business related subject, and post-graduate training in compliance, risk and regulatory matters
