Domestic Cleaner

Job Summary

The Domestic Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for elderly residents in a home care setting. This role involves performing routine cleaning tasks, ensuring hygiene standards are met, and contributing to the overall wellbeing of residents by providing a pleasant and supportive atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily and periodic cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and polishing furniture.
• Clean bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, and communal areas to high hygiene standards.
• Change bed linens, wash towels, and handle laundry as required.
• Dispose of rubbish and recycling appropriately.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces to reduce the risk of infection.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly to the supervisor.
• Use cleaning products and equipment safely and according to instructions.
• Respect residents’ privacy and personal belongings while working in their rooms or private areas.
• Follow infection control and health & safety procedures at all times.
• Support a homely, dignified, and caring environment for elderly residents.

Requirements

• Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a care home, hospital, or home care environment.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices.
• Good attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Reliability, honesty, and a caring attitude towards the elderly.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
