*This Full-Time position (40 hours per week) is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The position is based at the High Commissioner’s Residence in San Pawl Tat-Targa.

Working within the British High Commission Team, and reporting to the Residence & Events Manager, the key duties are:
  • General cleaning and housekeeping duties to ensure a high level of hygiene is observed at the British High Commission estate. This includes but is not limited to cleaning indoor and outdoor areas, laundry and ironing;
  • Serving during official functions (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and receptions);
  • Collaborating with the High Commission staff to ensure an efficient and effective service at the Residence, and the highest standards of customer service;
  • Liaising with the Residence & Events Manager to ensure the high standard of Health and Safety within the estate is upheld;
  • Managing the cleaning supplies in coordination with Corporate Services Team.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
  • A good command of the English language (B level CEFR framework);
  • Self-sufficient and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Ability to build effective working relationships;
  • Attention to detail.


*The successful candidate will need to demonstrate satisfactory references, and any appointment is subject to a security clearance process.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience:  

  • Clean valid Driving License (Category B);
  • Previous serving experience within the hospitality industry;
  • Food Handling Licence.

Other benefits and conditions of employment:
This is a 12 month full-time contract. The gross salary for this position is EUR 1421,08 gross per month (40 hours).  Monday to Friday: 8 hours per day from 08:00 to 16:30 at the HC’s Residence in San Pawl Tat-Targa. Flexibility will be required to cover possibility of colleagues being on vacation/sick leave, breakfast / lunch / evening and weekend work. The job holder may be required to work out of hours in the event of an emergency, colleagues being on vacation/sick leave, breakfast/ lunch/ evening and weekend work. Time off in Lieu or overtime will be offered to compensate, subject to the business at the time. Training professional opportunities. The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance. All applicants should have the right to live and work in Malta. The British High Commission does not sponsor work permits. Staff recruited locally by the British High Commission in Malta are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Maltese employment law. 

Visa/Passport requirements: candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Malta and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance.
