Environment Resources Authority in Malta is looking to recruit a Senior Officer (Finance) to join their team on a full-time basis. 

Job Details: Senior Officer (Finance) shall be responsible to support the line manager in various accounting duties, ensuring that the overall operations are carried out effectively and efficiently in accordance with any applicable policies, and approved business plans and in liaison with the line superior in particular to:
  • Assist in the preparation of timely management accounts in accordance with established authority deadlines;
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance;
  • Analyze management accounts for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the unit manager's Finance attention;
  • Perform bank and creditors reconciliations;
  • Monitor debtor balances and provide for any provisions when required;
  • Liaise with various Banks on all banking requirements and services;
  • Ensures that all returns and statutory returns are submitted on time;
  • Ensures the company’s policies and procedures are compliant with good practice and monitor these for adherence;
  • Optimize the handling of cash and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position;
  • Liaise with the authorized service providers for any operational shortcomings in conjunction with the staff responsible for IT;
  • Update Fixed Asset Register with new additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations;
  • Assist auditors with year-end-audit;
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the authority and makes sure that all Units have submitted their budgets within the respective timeframes;
  • Be responsible for the accounting for National and EU projects and other projects operated by ERA;
  • Assist Unit Manager Finance with the month-end procedures; and
  • Ensure that all administrative operations of the Unit are carried out systematically and effectively.

Job Entry Requirements / Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (MQF Level 6) with a minimum total of 180 ECTS credits in, Accounting or comparable qualification as recognized by MFHEA; or
  • Alternatively, in case of no First Degree, a Master’s Degree (MQF Level 7) with a minimum total of 90 ECTS credits in Accounting or comparable qualification as recognized by MFHEA.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of post-graduate relevant experience in finance.

*In the case of foreign qualifications, a recognition certificate from MFHEA is to be submitted for the application to be taken into consideration.
