Senior Accounting Associate

3a Malta Limited is looking to recruit a fully or partly qualified Senior Accounting Associate to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role: Reporting to the Head of Accounts and forming part of the Accounts Team, the ideal candidate is a self-motivated person who will be able to assist in various client accounting assignments. 

Duties and responsibilities:

• Responsible for an assigned portfolio of clients and proper keeping of accounting records
• Preparation of VAT returns and other VAT declarations
• Preparation of management accounts and financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and General Accounting Principles for Small and Medium-Sized Entities (GAPSME)
• Preparation of files for Auditors, and liaising with clients/auditors in a timely manner
• Create, organise and maintain a complete and timely book-keeping system which ensures proper record-keeping, and adequate accounting controls and services of the client companies’ financial affairs thus ensuring proper adoption and application of accounting policies
• Oversee accounts receivables and accounts payables, and ensure that income and expenditure are charged to appropriate accounts
• Reconcile bank statements, debtors and creditors, payroll and handle any discrepancies and problems
• Maintain contact with clients and ensure customer satisfaction by establishing a high degree of good rapport with them while providing them with the requested information in relation to their accounting queries

The successful candidate should meet the following requirements: 

• A degree in Accountancy or an equivalent professional qualification like MIA or ACCA (partly-qualified with experience is also considered)
• At least three to four years’ experience in a similar position
• Must have a good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Must be well versed in computerized accounting systems to exploit the reporting capabilities of the company’s accounting software to its maximum.
• Must be meticulous, methodical and accurate in the completion of tasks. 
• Must have a high level of personal and professional ethics. 
• Must have solid analytical ad problem-solving skills.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English
• Must work under minimal supervision
• Must perform under pressure
• Must have the ability to perform large amounts of numerical detail work efficiently
• Must have a professional appearance to coincide with the corporate image
