About the Department

The Finance function oversees and manages the finances of the Authority, supporting the various other functions within the Authority in all financial matters, including the preparation of timely management information, revenue collection, payments to suppliers and service providers, payroll and financial control and budgetary control. The function also sets, monitors and improves the operation of the MFSA's financial control framework, ensuring compliance with established policies and controls. It co-ordinates with the Statutory Auditors on the annual audit of the Authority's Financial Statements drawn up in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards and is also responsible for the timely submission of required statutorily financial information to Parliament.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Junior Analyst to support our Payroll Team with day-to-day operations, on a part-time basis. You will be expected to carry out the following duties:

  • Compiling data for payroll purposes and uploading it on the Payroll System;
  • Reviewing and verifying over-time, extra hours worked and hours worked by Pre Graduates with   attendance records;
  • Ensuring that any updates on employee and pay related details on the HR System are accurately recorded on the Payroll Software;
  • Maintaining and updating the Leave Management System with leave entitlements and work schedules, preparing periodical reports and monitoring leave balances;
  • Monitoring the payroll inbox on a daily basis and attending to staff members' queries;
  • Assisting in the closing of the monthly managements accounts by calculating and posting payroll related journal entries on SAGE;
  • Handling the submission of sick leave certificates and reconciling sickness benefit refunds received from the Department of Social Security;
  • Support the team members with any general accounting and administrative duties and any ad hoc tasks as required;
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time based on the exigencies of the Authority.

About you

Qualification at MQF Level 6 qualification or equivalent qualification in a relevant field. Professional certifications in the field are advantageous.

If you do not have the necessary academic qualifications but you have at least 5 years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.

Skills and competencies:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable using spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets)
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with Indigo Payroll Software is a bonus
