Senior VAT Accountant

Our client, one of the leading corporate service providers in Malta, is looking to recruit a Senior VAT Accountant.

The successful candidate chosen will form part of a dynamic team that handles a predominantly international clientele operating across a wide range of industries as well as the firm’s private clients. The role is therefore ideal for someone who wishes to broaden their experience and take on a challenge.

Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the Management on the technical aspects of all VAT?related work, including contributing to the drafting and enhancement of internal procedures
• Managing and overseeing the VAT compliance work carried out by junior team members across a diverse client portfolio
• Handling complex VAT matters, including advisory work, cross?border VAT implications, sector?specific VAT treatment, and analysis of legislative changes
• Reviewing VAT returns, VAT recapitulative statements, and related submissions
• Assisting clients with VAT registrations, deregistrations, and ongoing statutory requirements
• Liaising with tax authorities on VAT compliance matters, audits, queries, and investigations
• Attending meetings with clients to discuss VAT positions, compliance requirements, and provide guidance as required

Requirements:

• Fully qualified accountant + warrant
• Minimum of two years’ experience working specifically within VAT or indirect taxation
• Possession of a professional qualification or certification in taxation.
• Strong knowledge of VAT legislation, especially Maltese and EU VAT frameworks
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook
• Excellent written and spoken English
