Villa Anna Teresa Holdings Limited in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Junior Accountant to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team. The Junior Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial activities of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organisational skills, strong analytical abilities, and a keen eye for detail. This role requires proficiency in accounting skills, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial statements
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and receipts promptly and accurately. Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve any discrepancies or issues
  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accurate accounting of transactions and identify any discrepancies or errors
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyse financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial statements. Summarise and communicate financial information to management and other stakeholders - preparation of ad-hoc reports may also be required
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, including profitability analysis, cost analysis, and variance analysis to provide insights and recommendations to support decision-making
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide analysis and recommendations to management
  • Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist with internal and external audits as needed
  • Tax Preparation: Support tax preparation processes, including collecting and organising relevant financial data, preparing tax returns, and coordinating with external tax advisors
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to process improvements in finance procedure, if required, and implement changes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. Internal controls are to be performed to assist in the design and implementation of control procedures
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with other units within the organisation, such as sales, procurement, and operations, to ensure smooth financial operations and accurate recording of transactions.

  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis is preferred.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven working experience of a minimum of two years as a Junior Accountant or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations
  • Familiarity with tax regulations and preparation processes is essential.


Other:

  • Proficiency and experience in using Xero would be considered an asset.
