Job Summary:

The Night Auditor ensures a smooth and efficient overnight shift by balancing daily financial transactions, preparing for the next day’s operations, and providing exceptional guest service. The role combines accounting tasks, customer service, and administrative responsibilities, supporting both the hotel’s financial processes and the guests’ experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reconciliation

  • Audit and reconcile all financial transactions for the day, including room charges, food and beverage transactions, and other hotel revenues.
  • Balance and post daily revenue summaries and manage discrepancies.
  • Prepare end-of-day reports for management, identifying any variances and correcting entries as needed.

2. Guest Services

  • Assist late check-ins and early check-outs, ensuring accurate billing and payment processing.
  • Address and resolve guest inquiries and complaints during night hours, providing exceptional service.
  • Ensure security and guest safety protocols are followed, responding to emergency situations when necessary.

3. Operational Support

  • Prepare front desk for the morning shift by organising reports and updating reservation systems.
  • Ensure all public areas (lobby, reception area) are clean, tidy, and welcoming for guests.
  • Monitor night staff activities, including housekeeping, security, and maintenance support, as needed.

4. Reporting and Record-Keeping

  • Complete and distribute daily reports to management, detailing occupancy, financial totals, and night shift issues.
  • Record any incident reports related to guest behaviour, equipment malfunctions, or security issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of night shift operations to ensure smooth handover to morning staff.

5. Compliance and Security

  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, local regulations, and health and safety standards.
  • Monitor guest access to maintain security and safeguard the property.
  • Execute emergency protocols as necessary and ensure guest safety during overnight hours.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Accounting, or a related field. 
  2. Minimum of 2-3 years experience in a hotel night audit or front desk role. Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
  3. Strong knowledge of accounting. 
  4. Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities. 
  5. Proficiency in hotel management software. 
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  7. Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
